Quick Chilly Mushroom is a delicious vegan and gluten-free recipe prepared in less than 30 minutes. Serve it as a main dish or a side dish, with rice, roti, naan or any kind of bread you like.

Chilly Mushroom

 

Mushroom is one of my favorite go-to options when I am looking to cook something vegetarian. I love to add mushrooms in everything – soups, stir fry’s, pasta, pulav and gravies as well.  Also, when I want a meaty flavor in my vegetarian dish, I go for mushrooms. I use Mushrooms as a substitute to chicken on my vegetarian days! So yes, you can substitute mushroom with chicken or any other meat and prepare the same recipe.

 

This Chilly Mushroom recipe needs very basic ingredients that are available in most kitchens. Adjust the amount of spice as per your liking.

Chilly Mushroom - a delicious vegan, gluten-free recipe prepared in less than 30 minutes. Serve it as a main dish or a side dish, with rice, roti or naan.

Ingredients
  • 8 oz Mushroom
  • 1 Large onion sliced
  • 2 teaspoons Olive oil
  • 5-6 cloves Garlic finely chopped
  • 1/2 inch Ginger
  • 1/2 lime juiced
  • 1 teaspoon Red pepper flakes
  • Salt as required
  • Green Onion for garnish
  • Chopped Cilantro for garnish
Instructions
  1. In a blender or spice grinder, add 1 teaspoon oil, garlic cloves, ginger, lemon juice, pepper flakes and blend it to a paste. If required, add 1-2 teaspoons of water to help the blending.
  2. Heat the remaining oil in a pan on medium heat. Add onions and fry till they become soft - about 3 - 4 minutes. Next add the prepared paste and fry for about 2-3 minutes. Do not let the mixture burn. Add a spoonful of water if it starts sticking to the pan and burning.
  3. Next, add the chopped mushrooms and salt as required. Mix well and cook for another 5 to 7 minutes till the mushrooms are cooked.

  4. Garnish it with coriander leaves and serve warm as a side dish.
